Tryouts are open to the public. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the city they are representing. New York tryouts will take place at 1pm ET in the following locations:

About The People’s Games http://www.PeoplesGames.com

THE PEOPLE’S GAMES is a new brand of sport in America. It is an original and unique concept which provides an opportunity for the common man to represent their city in sporting competition against rival cities. It’s an opportunity for real people…teachers, taxi drivers, policemen, janitors, waiters, etc…to live out their dream of playing in a big time sporting event, representing their family, neighborhood, and city in pursuit of the thrill of victory.

THE PEOPLE’S GAMES recaptures the way sports used to be…when it was about heart, passion, and teamwork…played by people of varying backgrounds, race, religion, and social status…in short, when people played for “the love of the game”, not for money or fame.

Unlike other competitions, players on a team must come from the city for which they play. THE PEOPLE’S GAMES are the antithesis of professional sports.

Hot Tubs Nashville ? Hot Springs Spa Dealer in Lebanon, TN, Celebrates Company?s Continued Growth With a Customer Appreciation Event ? March 14 ? 19, 2011

Hot Tubs Nashville – Hot Springs Spa Dealer in Lebanon, TN, Celebrates Company’s Continued Growth With a Customer Appreciation Event – March 14 – 19, 2011

Lebanon, TN (PRWEB) March 13, 2011

Hot Spring Spas of Music City, a premier portable spa dealer is proud to announce a customer appreciation event.

According to Dennis Croteau, the company’s president, “even though the economy slowed in the region in 2010, our sales increased. There are many contributing factors here, but it all comes down to our growing list of dedicated customers. We decided to put on this event to say thanks.”

The company is owned and run by brothers Dennis and Kevin Croteau, both Wilson County residents. Dennis started his career refurbishing Hot Spring hot tubs in 1992 and opened the store in 2003. Kevin joined Dennis after he retired from the US Army in February 2007.

“When we started the business, we decided to focus our attention on providing quality product and quality customer service. We have never strayed from that philosophy,” said Dennis. “We strive to create new customers and keep those customers for life.”

“We understand that buying a portable hot tub can be a difficult and often times confusing process. That’s why we decided to offer Nashville spa buyers free in-home consultations, free in-store test soaks and one free hot tub move within one year of purchase. In addition, we offer service to all hot tub and sauna owners, not just those who bought from us,” continued Dennis.

“To say thanks to our loyal customers and future clients we decided to organize a customer appreciation event. We’re inviting everyone to come into the showroom, say hello and help us celebrate,” said Kevin. “While you’re here, grab some refreshments, take a free soak and relax, after all that’s part of the magic of owning your own Hot Spring hot tub.”

The customer appreciation event runs from March 14 through 19 and is located in the Lebanon showroom. To join in on the fun, or learn more, customers are encouraged to call or visit the company website.

Celebrate National Deaf History Month – Beginning March 13

National Deaf History Month

Minneapolis, Minnesota (Vocus/PRWEB) March 04, 2011

National Deaf History Month, which begins on March 13, was originally envisioned as just one week to promote a greater understanding of the deaf community. Today, National Deaf History Month is a month long, nationwide celebration of contributions of the hearing impaired and deaf community to American society.

National Deaf History Month was the creation of two deaf employees at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington DC. They began teaching their colleagues sign language, and these initial lessons grew into Deaf Awareness Week, celebrated and recognized by library administration.

In 1996, the National Association of the Deaf suggested the week become a full-fledged month, and in 1997, the first annual, nation-wide National Deaf History Month was celebrated, March 13 – April 15.

The mid-month start and end of National Deaf History Month is based on three historic dates. On March 13, 1988, Gallaudet University – the only university in the world exclusively for deaf students – selected their first deaf president. On April 8, 1864, President Lincoln signed a charter that allowed degrees to be granted to deaf students, and on April 15, 1817, the first permanent school for the deaf in the Western Hemisphere was established in Hartford, CT.

In the spirit of education and promoting a greater understanding of hearing loss and deafness, there are many resources available online and at local libraries. Many libraries also host events celebrating National Deaf History Month.

For more online resources about deafness and hearing loss, visit Hearing-aid.com. If you are concerned about hearing loss for you or a loved one, you can take an online hearing test or learn about the stages of hearing loss that may precede deafness.

Winter Draggin’ On? nopooh, Maker of Men’s Fashion Graphic Tees Announces that March is Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth Month

Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth

(Vocus/PRWEB) March 01, 2011

Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roth brilliantly elevated customized hot rods to a refined counterculture art form. Roth was a gifted outsider artist and innovator whose iconoclastic work commands increasing respect from every generation that discovers it. The creator of the Orbitron and the Mysterion is a hero to legions of hot-rod aficionados around the world. His bubble-topped, slingshot dragster style creations spun doughnuts around the prevailing automotive culture of the 1960s. In turn, nopooh elevates the classic hot-rod inspired graphic tee from its lowly status as an ink-soaked polishing rag to a work of graphic art suitable for framing, but infinitely cooler when worn.

March is tune-up, get the wheels ready for spring month. What better way to celebrate the coming of open-road season than with a vintage hot rod tee from nopooh’s Rods collection? The iconic “Draggin’” tee is an homage to the ’60s southern California Kustom Kulture art movement spearheaded by Roth. Tune up the spring wardrobe along with the engine with the clean, retro look of Viper Lamps or Diablo. Customize a look with vintage inspired Chrome Prowler or Tiger Brand accessory tees.

Brooklyn-based nopooh was founded in 2008 with the mission of producing high- end fashionable men’s graphic tees. nopooh is the collaboration of graphic designer Rob Tanner and fashion and fine art photographer Mark Babushkin. nopooh tee shirt designs feature striking, well-designed graphics and function as stylish components of a man’s contemporary casual wardrobe. nopooh’s coolly classic, beautifully printed images are drawn from international iconography and vintage Americana, and always complement – never overwhelm – one’s choice of attire. Very limited editions of each special, nopooh limited edition graphic tee are hand screened on superior quality 100% cotton American Apparel tees.

Owen Sound?s Tom Thomson Art Gallery Introduces Three New Exhibitions March 27

Owen Sound’s Tom Thomson Art Gallery Introduces Three New Exhibitions March 27

Owen Sound, ON (Vocus/PRWEB) March 17, 2011

On March 27, 2011, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery in Owen Sound Ontario opens three new exhibits at the gallery named in honor of the iconic Canadian landscape artist Tom Thomson. As a dynamic place where artists and audiences can meet and flourish, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery provides enriching experiences through art for a range of visitors, showing the art of today and influencing the art of the future.

The three exhibits opening March 27 at the Owen Sound Ontario art gallery include Time, Tangents & Tokens by Joan Hawksbridge, a survey of 25 years whose work is informed by the world of nature, the cycles of time and the intersection of forces both natural and cultural. Also new is State of Grace, Susan Low-Beer’s interpretive clay sculptures of children capturing the buoyancy, movement and lightness of innocent joyful exuberance. Produced in collaboration with the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery, the exhibit was inspired by a photograph of a child jumping, the abandonment of the serious pull of gravity overcome by the joy of a jump in the air. Completing the trio of new spring exhibits is the Science Fiction Science Fair with artists deconstructing illusion created by mass media by incorporating devices that support technology to both expose the underlying structures of technology and exploit them to create sculpture, video and installations.

All Tom Thomson exhibitions are accompanied by informative materials and scheduled tours are conducted by trained guides, all designed to bring a new dimension to visitors’ enjoyment and appreciation of art and its creation. As well, for each new exhibit the Ontario art gallery hosts a reception open to gallery patrons as well as a tour with the artists who have created the exhibit. The Tom Thomson Art Gallery also offers art classes and workshops focusing on a genuine art experience in all its studio art classes. The Owen Sound gallery offers specialized programs taught by professional instructors in small groups in its Gallery Studio, using quality materials and supplies ensuring an enriched learning environment.
